Grow Through It: What Divorce Taught Me About Starting Over
Share
Nobody tells you that divorce isn't just the end of a marriage — it's the beginning of figuring out who you are without it.
I didn't see it that way at first. I saw the loss, the logistics, the exhaustion. But somewhere in the middle of all of it, I started to grow — not in spite of what I was going through, but because of it.
A few things that helped me move forward:
1. Stop waiting to feel ready.
Ready is a myth. You start before you're ready and figure it out as you go.
2. Let yourself grieve — then let yourself go.
There's no timeline. But there is a point where staying in the grief becomes a choice.
3. Find one small thing that's just yours.
A walk. A candle. A bracelet you wear as a reminder that calm is still possible. Small anchors matter.
4. Change what you tell yourself.
The story you repeat about what happened shapes everything. You get to rewrite it.
5. You're not starting over. You're starting wiser.
What helped you grow through it? I'd love to know.
